Using Vultr Apps for WordPress Hosting

Anyone running a WP site from Vultr using their app? Testing with it now but finding it odd that it uses CentOS6.

We use Vultr for WP hosting, but would never use their app... for lots of reasons. It's ancient, it's on the wrong OS, on the wrong version of the OS, and we'd never use apps like that regardless because it's a bad system fundamentally. Those premade apps are really only for testing out an app. If you can't build your own, you aren't in a position where using theirs is safe to do. And it isn't like theirs is set up well or specially. It'll work, but won't work nearly as well as building your own.

Because the theory behind using pre-built apps is one that would not carry into production, there is no incentive for Vultr to keep them up to date or make them work really well. It just doesn't make sense for them. They are free little toys that they offer for people to play around and see how apps can be deployed on their system, nothing more than that. So the nature of what it is causes them to make them work, but not update them.

I currently have a few sites hosted via Bluehost or Host Monster,... but I have been considering moving to Vultr... just not sure as I also use it is a webdisk..

Vultr is a great way to go, you just have to build the systems manually.

I just loaded one to do some testing. Don't plan on using it for production. I may use Bluehost or Vultr on Fedora. My main reason was to get familiar with a theme and see if I like it. Then, I can destroy the instance and make it permanent and with the correct underlying OS.
