Flu vaccine is only for the elderly, enfeebled, and others with compromised immune systems... If you're reasonably healthy, there is no reason to get a flu shot (unless you secretly want to get sick as fuck for no reason).

That is totally untrue and not how the human immune system works.

Ok, you can have my flu shot, I don't need or want it. I wouldn't take another one with a gun to my balls. You have fun with your bullshit pseudo-vaccine, I'll stay over here without it and remain healthy.

      Science is not pseudo anything.

Just because you had an adverse reaction once to a very specific culture (each year is different) does not negate the science of immunization.

      Are you a flat-earther too?

But the science also says that most of us are already effectively immune to the flu of the variant that they immunize for. So according to science, there isn't much risk unless you are very old and have "first flu sin exposure" or whatever it is called prior to 1918.

If the variant changes as us 1918 and later kids are at risk again, then everything chances. But right now, what the vaccine is for is what we are already ready for.

No, I'm a healthy human with zero need for a flu shot. Since I've been sick a sum total of less than a week in the past 30 years, I'll stick to my "fuck the flu shot" guns, thanks.

Also, what in the bloody fuck does flat earth retardedness have to do with flu shots??? You might be stretching a little too far there, bud. Go get your flu shots and have fun with that.

If you're reasonably healthy, there is no reason to get a flu shot (unless you secretly want to get sick as fuck for no reason). I had one when I was 18, and you'd literally have to kill me to get me to take another one. Never been sicker in all my life (and that counts the times I had the flu before that BS shot).

I've never had a flu shot, and I probably never will.

If I ever got the flu, I didn't notice or didn't get sick enough to care. Same with others in my family.

I used to never get it. Several years ago, I decided to. I ended up feeling like I had the flu but it was mild. I also noticed a strange painful sensitivity on the surface of my skin all the way down the arm on which I had received the shot. I would say it is similar to what people describe shingles as but not the intensity. This lasted for about a month. Because it lasted so long I didn't think they were related.

The next year, I got the flu shot and experienced the same pain/sensitivity. It didn't start til several days afterward so I didn't put it together. The 3rd year, I finally realized that it was being caused by the flu shot.

That was the end of me getting the flu shot.

Highly likely you have an allergic reaction to something in the vaccine. Instead of ignoring it, you should speak with a doctor about it because at some point in your life, you will likely be hospitalized for something and an adverse reaction to some medication at the wrong time could be fatal.

I have mentioned it every time they offer but none have been concerned.

The entire thing is nothing but an increased chance of resistance in case of exposure. My family happens to be in an environment with a good chance of exposure, so an increased chance of resistance is certainly a benefit.

Sometimes you have to run it farther up the flag pole. The person administering the shot may not pick up on your concern. The thing to have done would have been to speak to the Dr. about it and if no response find a new Dr. Waving off allergic reactions is dangerous, they can come back with a vengeance. A nurse practitioner almost killed my wife last week. She had hives and the nurse practitioner kept sending her home with higher doses of steroids. She went to the dermatologist and the dermatologist freaked out and said the steroids were simply amplifying the reaction. This is why it is medical "Practice". They are not gods.

Yeah, it has been my actual Dr and nurses offering. I will mention it next time I see them. Thanks for the info.

The only studies I've found suggesting the flu shot is safe and beneficial are sponsored by those who profit off of it... just something I've noticed, but I haven't looked too deeply into flu shots. I just know that we're (myself and family) all perfectly fine without it.

No, I just don't do pointless shit that is potentially more harmful than beneficial. Getting the flu myself is less harmful imho.

If I were old an frail, then that may be reversed. But until then, no thanks.

I'm up-to-date on most of my important vaccines (had to get them when I got my implant a couple of years ago). That said:

I don't get the flu shot either. I haven't had the flu in years. On the rare occasion that I get the flu, it's generally not bad enough to warrant anything more than a couple of days of bed rest and a box (or three) of kleenex. For a week or two after, I keep hand sanitizer around for those who come in contact with me.

Of all the folks that I know (in real life) who get the flu shot, all of them but one usually wind up with the flu.

If it works for you, that's awesome, keep it up! If it doesn't work for you, don't get it, *shrugs*.

Having been on and off the flu shot in recent years I can say usually getting the shot means getting the flu.

Whether its less likely to happen when you actually do it routinely I couldn't say.

So someone just posted a thread on SW about Microsoft, SAM and ELP and I posted this, because seriously, this is funny I think...

"Okay so I'm sorry that this is so ridiculously off topic, but I saw this title and it just made me giggle.  Everyone calls me SAM around here and, while many of you don't know this, I used to work for ELP, literally the famous band Emerson, Lake, & Palmer, long ago.  And I've worked for Microsoft.  So the question: "Microsoft, SAM, and ELP - is this legitimate?" sounds like someone questioning my work history and just was funny enough to me that I had to point it out.  Although now that I write it out, it's only so funny.  lol"

The only studies I've found suggesting the flu shot is safe and beneficial are sponsored by those who profit off of it... just something I've noticed, but I haven't looked too deeply into flu shots. I just know that we're (myself and family) all perfectly fine without it.

                                        Are you an anti-vaccer?

While it is anecdotal, I know no one who ever gets the flu other than people with shots. Like I have no idea what we are preventing, who actually gets the flu anymore?

There have to be some stats on this, but as doctors routinely misreport stomach bugs as influenza because they aren't semantically correct or pedantic like they need to be and think that people will "just know from context which thing they mean", I question if anyone has a language for discussing if the vaccines work at all.

I should add, my great grandmother died of the flu. But no one since her in my family am I aware having ever had it, at all.

Or as the docs call it around here: the stomach flu.
