      **Date/Time: **1.00 EDT Friday, 17 October

Awhile back, we rounded up folks from the Backup Exec development team and did a series of AMAs

      • Backup Exec 2012
      • Virtualization
      • Backup Exec 3600 Appliance
      • Service Packs for BE 2010 & 2012

Well, it’s been awhile, but we are back to carry on that weird and slightly awkward tradition. Friday, 17 October from 1.00-3.00 EDT, we are gathering members of the various teams who made Backup Exec 2014

      • Product Management
      • Engineering
      • Quality Assurance
      • Technical Marketing
      • Technical Support

As you might have noted this is an AMAA, Ask Me ALMOST Anything. This is the Backup Exec team and while we know to expect some non-Engineering and non-Backup Exec specific questions, if it’s beyond our scope we may have to simply say we don’t know or wave our hands and say “this isn’t the question you meant to ask”.

In the mean time, if you have questions or need anything, you can find more information at

      • Symantec Connect Forum
      • @BackupExec
      • Spiceworks Symantec Vendor Page

You got questions? I'm bringing the folks with the answers. Come and talk with us. See you tomorrow.

@Minion-Queen awesome! I love to see The Network fly into action like this

28 confirmed from the various parts of the development family attending either in the room or on the phone and another 7 likely to join for at least part of it.

Plus, we usually pick up 5-6 more in the a.m.

                    oil up the torches

We won't have a link till we go live tomorrow in Reddit...it's just the nature of their beast.

But it will be in the r/IamA subreddit http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/

Saw that, very funny. But not as funny as the "he's waiting for it to finish" joke from the announcement in the other thread where Matt announced the AMA.

I asked a couple questions but I'm done following the page. You have to hunt for new responses and there is no logical order to anything. One of my major gripes with Reddit.

Symantec seems to be holding their own. The questions really are not that brutal.

That's what I was noticing. Lots of people griping about support.

That's to be expected. Every company has support problems and people with support issues are the most vocal. So you get a large company and any public space is going to be loaded with people complaining about their support issues. It makes it impossible to determine if a company actually has support issues or if they are just large enough to have lots of customers.

Yeah, but quite a few cases of all the same comments. It sounds like their support isn't even at par. Sounds like it's outsourced most likely.
