Sorry guys, a real noob here. I have been given the task of making the connection between the cloud service and our backup server which is running Veeam. We have a Meraki firewall which in theory should make it simple. This is an opportunity for me to get a real grasp of Best Practice and a hands on experience with doing enterprise to cloud connectivity safely. If you can think of any articles that helped you it would be met with extreme gratitude. I realize this is not enough information to help provide a solid answer and am sorry for that. I am just a squirrel trying to get a nut. Thanks guys. And Ladies.

The firewall won't even be involved.

The first thing to understand is that cloud isn't a thing, not in this context. Cloud computing is a thing, but doesn't apply here. In the sense of "cloud storage" or "cloud backup", these aren't things. Cloud is just a code name for "hosted." And hosted just means "someone else's server."

So imagine asking this question "what is the best way to connect to someone else's server?"

The answer will always be "what connection options does the specific vendor offer?"

Remember, cloud in this context is a lot like saying something generic like "computer." We can't answer any best practices about "computers", it is simply too broad. It's completely down to the specifics of the vendor and technology in question.

@scottalanmiller I really, truly appreciate your patience and willingness to help. Thank you. I have reached out to the service to see what connection the vendor offers. It is Cloudsafe for those that would like to know.

Again thank you, I am really glad I found this group, everyone is top notch.

Chances are with a small provider like that, there is one way to use them and all decisions around "how" and "best practices" were made by whomever chose them as the service provider. There are unlikely to be any options around this.
