I like running. Right now I'm at about 10-12 miles a week which is roughly running 3 days a week. It clears my head, relieves stress, burns calories, and is free.

I like all the answers above, and would like to add how important it is, to have a stress relief routine. Stress and related burnout are critical issues to seriously consider, and have a plan to manage.

And laughter. I cope with the ridiculousness of this world through humor. 😄

@spiral This stress really isn't work related, but just life related. Somehow, technology has turned into my escape.

My stress relief are basketball, workouts, video games and sometimes just being isolated from People helps too.

Browsing Mangolassi.it is a stress reliever for me. To sit down and look through the new topics and answers can be stress relieving... can also be stress causing at times, but not as much as it is relieving. I find that learning more about IT is stress relieving and fun... not necessarily from Mangolassi.it, but in general, from books I have, labs, blogs, news, etc.

                      Non-IT-Related stress relief:

Podcasts, going to the gym, lightweight gaming (minecraft, NMS, etc), phone apps (Duolingo, Sololearn) for learning foreign spoken/programming languages, play some ukulele.

Also, going out with the family on weekends to do fun and interesting things. There's a lot to see and do in the SoCal area, so we really like to take advantage of it.

I've recently start Karate and that seems to be helping (a bit as I'm having issues with co-ordinating leg and arm movements lol)
Main one is getting home and switching off in-front of the TV. If it's home life then take dog for a walk our just go to the shops and buy junk food.

Music, going to see it, have a gig, listen to it. Music is always my go to.

Music - I generally have Pandora running all day. Sit out on the porch and watch it rain or just watch the trees sway in the wind....

Spending time with my wife and daughter. Gaming is a big one. I find working on IT related tasks to be very stress relieving so working on my personal lab or on work tasks tends to make things less stressful.

I find it easy to relax / decompress doing pretty much anything other than what it was that got me so harrowed to start with.

One of the best things to do is get up and move, even if it is going for a walk. And let your mind wander, whether you listen to music or a podcast or nothing at all. Manual labor is pretty freeing as well when you are under some stress. Get out in the yard and trim a few trees or dig those holes to put new plants in the landscaping, etc. Learning new things is fun for me too, but nothing relives stress as much as movement / some kind of exercise. Otherwise everything gets tense, and I eventually am going to move wrong and tweak my back.

People like doing things they are good at. If a guy sucks at golf you won't find him out on the course every Saturday. If he's good at work, he will often bury himself in his work when other parts of his life are difficult.

Music, weight training, rowing, and skydiving. Not necessarily in that order.

I like going to the firing range. When I worked at the prison you could go practice whenever you wanted. So that is what I will do. It is my "alone" time so to speak. I have a little .22 pistol, .22 ammo is cheap, I use it to go plinking.

Plinking? You mean the sound the bullet makes when it bounces off a beer can / glass bottle? lol.

My uncle used to have a little 6 shooter .22. I'd love to get my hands on one again.
