Give me NextCloud, Zimbra and Rocket any day. So much better than G Suite or Office 365 so far in my testing.
I should have this entire stack setup in my home lab, with salt no less real soon here. Looking forward to seeing how it all works together. The only thing not obvious so far is getting the office suite integrated, and that's just because I haven't found someone that's installed it all via salt and posted instructions online yet. I'm sure I can get it figured out!

You'll need LDAP or something like that behind it to centralize authentication to tie it all together if you go that route.

Yep, Zimbra -> NextCloud integration baby! "Allow Zimbra users to login to NextCloud"

I've got my NextCloud install working with Collabora. It's... Let's just say I'd rather use the local LibreOffice and let it sync, and I'd only use the Collabora online if that was my only other option. It's not bad, but the local LibreOffice is 1000 times better to me.

You can already connect the two via IMAP since there is an email application inside of NextCloud. That's what @dominica uses as her email client for accessing her Zimbra emails.

Kind of like the MS Office situation? That's about the same.

I'm having a hard time letting go of Gmail for my webmail client. I love the keyboard shortcuts and just the way it operates. I'd be more than willing to try another webmail client. The one(s) in NextCloud are ok. I try them out from time to time to see where they're at.

I don't like the GMail interface. And I don't like how slow the email delivery is. I find it several second slower than Hosted Exchange or Zimbra. Those are nearly like instant messaging, but GMail has a noticeable delay and sometimes requires me to manually refresh the screen to see email that has come in.

You're supposed to be able to login to NextCloud with users from a Zimbra deployment now, and access your NextCloud with Zimbra's new "Drive" thing (why did they have to rename it, gr!)

Does it integrate users? I have Zimbra Drive, but I thought that you had to sign in manually.

I don't know, I hope to find out in a little bit.

So I wonder what that will do to the Skype for Business platform that so many people are trying to tie into their phone systems.
Hrm more to investigate / ponder.

I've been on G Suite for two weeks and so far my impression is that provisioning is broken, GMail is actually just as bad as Exchange, and Keep is the only good thing that they make. Google Docs aren't bad, but not great. That they are fast and completely hosted is nice, but they are no LibreOffice, that's for sure. Hangouts and Meet are crippled to the point of useless. Hoping once @Romo takes over management of G Suite that he can sort some of this out. But overall, not impressed, at all.
Why'd you go G Suite over MS?

He was recently hired at a company. I assuming it was in place prior to him being hired.

Already in place, and with engineering moving with pedal to the floor, not a good time to rip and replace the existing infrastructure. Won't put in MS, though. We've got zero dependency on that stuff, no reason to consider Exchange.
