Nintendo Slowly Phasing Out 3D Handheld Concept

Nintendo has discontinued the 3DS in Japan. According to the article, Nintendo has been reduced its focus on the 3DS' gimmick for years and now is moving to 2DS production only. Nintendo remains the only company to have attempted to make a glasses-free 3D system and it would appear to not have worked out to be as popular as they had hoped.

We have some and always turn off the 3D. It's annoying and silly. It's neat that they can do it, but the novelty lasts like two minutes then it is just awful. It kills the battery, too. These gimmicks never seem to do anything to improve games, they just take the focus away from making something interesting. 3D is good, but this weird two inch handheld 3D was just bizarre.
