Taco Time also has vegetarian dishes, and is actual food. A much better choice, but i dont think they are in Texas.

Never seen them, so guessing not. We have so many taco places here, it's hard to compeet.

          Taco Bell!

Me too - wanted to see if I could match Scott's $2.38 menu choices.. nope 😛 Of course I did get a three taco combo 😛

Bean Burrito + Cheesy Bean and Rice Burrito

A normal Bean Burrito was $1.29, I asked for a cheesy bean, and they tried to ring up a Bean Burrito (at least that was the display) - again, that was $1.29.

I then noticed they had a cheese/rice/bean burrito on the $1 menu, so I asked - the response was - oh... you wanted the cheesy/rice burrito.. /sigh.. whatever..

So around here, assuming you got
          bean burrito - $1.29
          cheese/rice/bean burrito - $1
          rice burrito - let's assume $0.50

That would put my total at $2.79 before 7% + 1.5% taxes are added.

Cheesy Bean AND RICE, or a Cheesy Bean Burrito? Not the same thing. Like everything, semantics matter. A cheesy bean burrito is a bean burrito with cheese. A Cheesy Bean AND RICE burrito is on their dollar menu.

You think it's only me that takes the words said literally. But in fairness, they have to. If they do what you say and it isn't what you want, you are wrong. If they guess that you ordered wrong and give you something else, then you can complain that they are wrong.

You can't mix product names with food or hypervisors. Same problems 🙂

A what? They don't offer anything like that here. And straight rice is $1.29 I think.

Remember that the person taking the order is a minimum wage drone having withdrawls from not having their phone stuck to their face who couldn't give less of a shit if you get what you ordered or not.

There was also no mention of rice. These are names, not descriptions. And the bean burrito already has cheese, so it would not have appeared on the screen. Had you ordered it with beans, it would not have appeared either. I feel like this is a language issue, the idea that the product names matter is the issue. You ordered as clear as can be a "bean burrito" and that's what they rang up. What you said isn't ambiguous at all, it's absolutely what they did. It just wasn't what you intended.

This is like people saying they installed Zen Server or a Xen server when they meant a XenServer. All are discrete, very precisely different items.

This is where semantics and accuracy are literally the same thing.

But the person taking the order got it EXACTLY right. In every way. They got the bean burrito with cheese, exactly as he ordered it.

Wouldn't have made a difference as the bean burrito has cheese. Just because you mentioned it, he would not have charged you again for it. So it doesn't show up on the screen. Only if you had said with no cheese, would the removal of the cheese been noted.

I'll take it on the chin - I was in the drive though, and didn't read the menu.

I have to assume that a bean burrito (that apparently includes cheese) must be a larger item than the been/cheese/rice burrito - unless the rice is so much less expensive and so volume consuming as to allow it to reduce the price by more than 22%.

The bean burrito is a heftier item. I think they are the same size, but it's a good 50% heavier in weight. The bean burrito is refriend beans as nearly the entire content. It's a serious meal, no fillers. Beans, cheese and a sprinkling of veggies.

The cheesy bean and rice is black beans and rice with a spicy cheese sauce. It's nearly all rice filler. It's very tasty and cheap, but won't fill you up and doesn't have the protein level of the bean burrito. The bean burrito is healthier and more calories. One is really meant as a meal and the other as a snack. But one of each is a good meal with a little variety between the two portions.
