I've had two servers now for different clients reboot in the work day when they are scheduled to install updates at 2AM.

In both cases it was the hyper-v host that rebooted and it took down the production server.

Time/date and timezone were set correctly. Anyone else see this happen?

        What version of Hyper-V?

Why do you have any hypervisor set to automatically patch and reboot?

I have my Hyper-V hypervisors using WSUS, and I simply don't approve any updates for them until my maintenance window.

If you have them set to use a WSUS server only (even if it's a fake one), they won't update. Same with anything.

Can you clarify, did Hyper-V reboot on two different physical machines? Or did two VMs get rebooted when one Hyper-V system rebooted?

yes - hyper-v rebooted on two different physical hosts at different sites for different customers.

side note - I spun up a Windows 2016 server on Vultr Friday and installed WSUS on it. I took screen shots, so hopefully a guide will follow. I didn't find one - but on the other hand, this hasn't been very complicated either.

                    I have a wsus 2016 guide / how-to on spiceworks.
