Anyone get central vacuum installed in their place? I had it in a place I rented and the hardware itself seems really cheap actually. Wondering what the labor costs typically are. Seems to be pretty straightforward

@wirestyle22 A central vacuum is actually a horrible solution, as you get further away from the motor you lose suction, kinks and clogs in the lines are difficult to remove, and they are overly expensive.

You'd be better off spending $500 on a dynson than having a central vacuum installed in your house.

@DustinB3403 Really? That sucks. Those little suction holes on the wall were nice for sweeping

The point it it sucks less than the standard ones 😉

              😉

I had a standard vacuum too. I just like it for sweeping

A well thought out central vac is actually more powerful than any upright, and doesn't loose nearly so much vacuum that you think. I have a family member who put one in the house they built. He does get clogs when something large gets sucked up, but he also planned for that and left access to the piping near corners.

That said, a contractor who doesn't understand or is just lazy will screw it up something terrible.

@NerdyDad of course there. On nearly every corner in the city.

You can get specific ones too, but they cost more.
