Acer isn't bad. I've had a few and they have help up okay. Don't think about them too much anymore. Like Toshiba they seem to have faded from popularity.

Not for this guy. My laptop is coming up on 2 years old, and still runs like a champ... I just hope it stays that way, lol.

I have a Dell that is I don't know how many years old... running fine.

And a EEE-PC that is still running as well. I'm considering dropping a 120SSD in it to move to linux as it was / is WinXP.

I won't know until tomorrow how fairs my data,.. however in the mean time, I guess I"m in the market for a new laptop. This one didn't make two years,.. and it's hardly traveled... so no harsh bumping.

          So I will start looking..

          Lenovo?

          Surface?

Did you seriously just mention Lenovo and still have a job with NTG?

          *edit
OK now I see with the surface mentioned also, you must be kidding.

I will never own another Zenbook unless it's given to me.

My wife had one, 1 year and a few days - it started just not powering on. Unscrew the bottom, pull the the battery, replace it, it would work.. eventually that stopped working. Nope.. I'm done with them.

Granted - it was probably a gen 1 problem.. but I'll spend my money elsewhere.

Sadly booting the system on another similar laptop didn't resolve the clean shutdown. And when I try to boot on a different computer, I get a Partition Table error.

So mounted as Read Only and am in the process of moving the user profile(s) to an external drive.

                          sudo mount -o remount,ro /dev/sdb1 /media/username/Ubuntu

Is what I had to use.
