Australia #censusfail: Derision greets simple fix failure

If only IBM consulting read SMBITJournal they would have know the importance of testing the ability to reboot systems. This is super basic stuff.

I wonder if you can now get fired for buying IBM? 😉

I actually knew a lot of people inside of IBM who were fired for trying to buy IBM, believe it or not.

According to the news, they are going to be in what looks like pretty big trouble for failing to meet the terms of the contract.

I don't really see how IBM is at fault for it, unless they were managing the entire process. In which case, why didn't they just power cycle the stupid thing. .

They didn't spell it out in the article but the combination of things was: IBM contracted to build and deliver system, IBM questioned as to failure and admitted not having tested router, IBM looking to have to repay some of the money for failing to meet objectives.

Seems pretty likely that IBM was responsible for the full system and failed to adequately test it.

So this was an IBM run Project and they messed up, in which case sure they should be held accountable.

They didn't make it super clear, but that's really what it looks like. Why else would IBM even be there involved in the talks?

IBM are getting grilled in the parliament this week and based on what I heard, they were actually blaming the subcontractors for the failure, especially the ISP who failed to provide geo IP blocking
