Not quite IT related but I wanted to get some feedback. Not for me. Looking into the best schools for industrial engineering in the country. I've heard good things about University of Buffalo, but also curious about elsewhere. Places in the NW USA are preferred but just curious if anyone has any advice.

      Thanks,
      A.J.

Virginia Tech is pretty well respected for engineering. MIT, Berkeley, Carnegie Mellon.

Those are the top ones that I know of.

Let me also add a caveat. Looking for schools that are good, but also somewhat reasonably prices. Berkeley and MIT are both bank breakers. Carnegie too. VT might be an option, but also is pretty expensive AFAIK.

VT is only about $10k/year in State, Berkley $12k, MIT/Carnegie Mellon are expensive at $40k.

I have never looked into it but I have heard from others the SIUE (Southern Illinois Univeristy Edwardville)has a good engineering program.

No idea which part of engineering though. Here is the link to their Industrial Engineering page. http://www.siue.edu/ENGINEERING/IE/index.html

Grove City College (where I went) has a good engineering program. But it's prob close to $25K a year now. Was $16K when I started.

UB is quite good. So is RIT in Rochester (one city over.) Kettering U in Flint, MI was #1 in the world when I went there for MSE (a sub division of IE) in the mid-1990s. Not as good now, though.

RIT has a well respected Engineering Program. Clarkson University does as well. Syracuse University did but I think it's gone down hill since the 80s. SUNY IT/Poly, whatever they want to call themselves, has well regarded one in the SUNY system not sure how that translates to the outside world. Looks like they closed that program down. Scratch that.
