I know this is probably a very simple fix but I replaced an aging HP 3005 with a 605 on our network. I used the same DNS name and IP. I did the same on another one last month and it worked perfectly with no DNS or IP issues. But this one will not be discovered or ping. All of the settings are correct. I even went into my DNS settings and deleted the old Host (A) records and created new ones. I've powered the printer off and back on and it comes up with the correct IP but the network is just not seeing it.

      Any suggestions?

Start by giving it a fresh IP address and test in isolation. Can you ping it? Don't worry about the DNS name until the IP is working, if IP doesn't work, DNS has no chance but adds layers that make it harder to troubleshoot.

It might easily be that the printer is bad. That's why you want to test with vanilla settings.

I would suspect it's an issue with the printer if the above steps have been tested.

Can the printer be pulled off of the network, statically assigned an IP and assign a laptop within the same scope, try pining from the laptop to the printer.

If that works, then go outwards and test from there.

So you say you know it has an IP but you can't ping it? Is the printer's config page what is telling you that?

Sorry, I didn't see this was posted on my behalf.

After I connected my laptop to the port and got no lights or connection and brought over a 20 foot cable to plug into the printer and then the printer connected, I have determined it is the LAN Jack.

But get this...I connected an old 100 Meg desktop switch I had laying around to that jack and then connected the printer to that switch and then it worked. So they are up and running.

I had that issue before. If it doesn't work on gigabit but works on 100 there is a broken connection on the blue or brown pairs.

I've seen that before. The auto-negotiation doesn't work for anything beyond the IP. I saw that happen with an HP LJ 4000 series once. Replaced the card on it and it fixed the issue. But sometimes that's the issue.
