Toyota wants the worlds cars to join hands
Obviously to improve performance warnings etc rather than having to rely on a cell phone to determine that you're sitting on i90 because of backup traffic or construction.

I took a class from a professor at RIT who was working on mesh networking for the military and automotive industry. He was talking about using it in commercial drones as well.

Basically while this COULD be used to help the driver, this is just to collect data in a way that is not as powerful as the old OnStar system that GM has.
