      Since They are only a software layer separation what's the point of having multiple? rather than a large one? Vmware says you should limit each lun to 2TB and no more than 15 VMs for the best performance? How is it better performance when LUNs are separated on the disks?

        LUNs share disks, but each have their own queue.

            Uhh, wait, zpools are a completely different beast. zvol's are iSCSI targets. zpool is your array of spindles and flash drivers.

              No, zpools are RAID arrays.

                No, zpools are RAID arrays.
