He's panicking over a set of technologies he doesn't even remotely understand. And running away from the system that is solving the problem!

Basically, the Samba team found a bug in the SMB protocol, it looks like, that impact everyone. So almost certainly a Windows issue. The OP seems to think that Samba runs ON Windows, rather than INSTEAD of Windows. His reaction is not to remove the thing that has the bug, he's going to keep that, he's just randomly pulling things out that the doesn't even know what they do and actively undermining his own security.

Prepping Server 2012 R2 for Exchange 2013. Really want this old SBS 2008 server gone.
Could not convince the client to go with Office 365 back in 2014. Pricing was different then, but still similar to now. Tied even pushing for Exchange Online, but they rejected it.
Then their old server had a hardware failure and I had to do an emergency P2V of the SBS server. Then other things came up and I never rolled out the Exchange 2013 that they bought.
Finally getting that done.

So we're in a parking lot last night, walking to the car, and this Cadillac is backing out of a spot right in front of us. I catch a glimpse of the license plate and chuckle. I say "FTP-8888... I wonder what he does for a living." All I get is blank stares. As soon as I explain, then it's the "you're such a dork" look. The only response I actually got was "F*** The Police! lol
Help me out guys. Was it that hard?
