Interesting - So he's a reseller for Google Apps, sold them a solution, and now you want to move to a new reseller (essentially - which is yourself).

It might not be possible to do this. It's a function they should have, but they might not have it.... Google support should be able to answer this for you.

@DustinB3403 The problem is the clients account is under the outgoing IT Admins reseller account. Therefore I doubt I can get admin control over that specific client unless it's migrated out of his reseller account and moved to my own ... the question is - is that possible?

I haven't dealt much with the google reseller accounts, but I don't know why you wouldn't be able to transfer ownership.

If the outgoing person does not have the tools in the account to migrate the account to a new reseller, then you need to contact Google. I personally have no experience with this, sorry.

I saw someone talk about Google takeout before. That may help in this situation?

@johnhooks I don't believe that will pull the email out though.

Contacts information yeah (If I remember correctly) but not emails.

Ah ok. I saw it had a Gmail export function but I didn't know what actually came out of it.

                      Looks like it might work

You could pull all of the email out into PST files or some other format for whatever email client you use,
but that doesn't really get you were you want to be.

Question, is the end goal to stay with Google Docs?

So I just found out - the outgoing IT can generate a token transfer code...Which will then move the admin control from his reseller account into the new reseller account. Doing this doesnt cause any loss of data and doesnt need any migration and everything will stay as is....The problem is - i'm not a google reseller so cant move into my account. I will see if I can sign up for a reseller account or otherwise find a local reseller!

I'm meeting with the client tomorrow to discuss the options - whether we stick with google or not.

Wow I didn't realize they had reseller accounts. Is the reason just to have someone else manage your accounts for you?

We used to be one, there was just zero interest. Once O365 came out, we never once found someone interesting in Google Apps. I found that surprising, but so it was.

Ya I think education is the only place I've ever seen it used in practice in real life.

I've seen several more modern firms (but not the kind using MSPs) that use it.

I think if you're used to MS Office - why would you even consider Google Docs - especially once O365 came out. The online versions of Office apps are close enough that most people can muddle their way through. Google docs - lots of differences... not horrible.. but definitely different.

In either case, the notion of saving a file is weird to say the least compared to old school local drive or network shares.
