as a non parent, what is the point in making them eat the food they refused the day before? What's the reason they didn't eat it?

I'm not sure I even understand sending them to bed if they don't eat. I can definitely understand telling them that they can't eat anything else (different) that night.

Easier said than done. I'd be willing to give it a try, but it's kinda hard as a single male 😛

I am 40 years old and have NO desire to have my own children. I rent them from time to time from my wife's siblings, but uh, no thanks on having them myself.

I am happy to be 40 and have an adult child.

I'm trying to understand the lesson here? Why force this on a child, and not on an adult?

Frankly I'm a bit surprised that Scott is forcing his child to do this. Again, I understand no new food options for that night, it's the rest that confuses me.

The real question is when does this become "insane" so you just get a different food to get the child to eat.

I suppose that depends on the goal - and the reasons they aren't eating the food in front of them.

As another non-parent this has also baffled me. Make them food, serve them food. If they are old enough to use utensils, eating is up to them.

Our kid simply doesn't eat when he isn't hungry. But when it is bed time and he wants cookies, if he didn't eat his supper, he gets supper, or nothing.

They need to learn to eat (and do) things that they don't like -- within reason -- and by those in authority... The earlier they learn it, the less of a problem they will have as they get older.

I was never that big of a problem teenager for my parents, because I learned early on they meant what they said. I wasn't the perfect angel that everybody wants... but I knew where the line was at and how to tread if very carefully, lol.

A-friggin-men. I'm 41 with no kids, so I have free time and disposable income. It's a great combo when you want to travel or go out to eat somewhere nice (like nice places where kids do not belong... if you are paying $20-30 plus for an entree, leave your progeny with a sitter).

@travisdh1 you'll have more fun as a single male.... trust me. I don't mean avoid dating, just don't let them tie you down. 😉

The kids are all playing Minecraft Pocket Edition with each other but the world is so big they have no idea how to find each other.

I am trying to recuperate from a long day Saturday of cutting down, and hauling trees back home to be turned into firewood... And Chasing the kid all over central Georgia yesterday (found a bouncy house place called Monkey Joe's -- kid had a ton of fun) followed by Pizza for supper.

Today is a holiday in the US for schools and such so now I'm working on making firewood... right after lunch, lol.

I wish it were a holiday for me. I always seem to end up working for places that do 7 days a year. 😞

I'm on call if something completely and totally catastrophic happens.. but I am so far down that totem pole that I don't have to worry about it too much.
