Netflix to Crack Down on Proxy Streaming

Netflix has been denying that this would happen, but now that they are ready to enact it, the change has been announced. The wording from the BBC is odd as it says "home country" but it is assumed that they don't mean that but instead mean "country of viewing." What about travels of one home country trying to use the service when they are outside, or perceived as being outside, of their home country? Only proxy services are mentioned, what about DNS ones? Many questions left unanswered here. But the real news is that Netflix is beginning to take a hard line against people trying to view content from other regions via proxy services such as Hola.

I'm sure they are feeling the pressure from both content providers and ISPs. Because of the proxies, ISPs that haven't been seeing the Netflix level of traffic (which is probably breaking their Peering Point agreements) and are demanding a solution.

Makes me happy yet again that I setup my ERL with a VPN tunnel for this purpose where everything is forced through it.

The only people I know up here who use Canadian netflix are my parents, and that's only because I have not mentioned it as I don't want to fix it

Couple years ago my wife got stuck on a plane on the tarmac in Ottowa because a storm killed power to Toronto airport. Luckily there was wifi and the kids loved that Netflix carried Dora and Diego still. US Netflix had lost the rights to those.

Couple years ago my wife got stuck on a plane on the tarmac in Ottowa because a storm killed power to Toronto airport. Luckily there was wifi and the kids loved that Netflix carried Dora and Diego still. US Netflix had lost the rights to those.
That must be one of the few exceptions, I've heard we get nothing compared to you southerners.

We get more content from outside of the US than from within.
