@Dashrender $1600 is base price. 4gb ram, 500gb spinning rust. doesnt list the processor. And I thought my Macbook Air was expensive....

For a "free operating system" 🙂

I see what they did there.

That's ridiculous! The new Surface Book is $1599 starting price too, and it does have SSD and the display detaches to become a slate computer.

"The Librem 13 is powered by a fifth-generation, 2.2-GHz dual-core Intel Processor. The standard specs list 4 GB DDR3L of RAM, expandable to 16 GB. The review unit, however, was loaded with 8 GB of RAM."

                Processor etc.

Will the price go down into the reasonable range after their crowd funding is done?

Why would it need to? Linux fans are often as rabid as MAC fans...

Not likely, these things are low volume.

Sweet! Almost 2 grand for the spec equivalent of a $399 special in the windows world...

Notice that there is a $500 coupon. So it is $1,100, not $1,600.

                              The $500 coupon cost $475

Exactly. It is $1624 to buy it, or $25 off a $500 coupon / credit.
