New AppleTV is Now Available

Apple's latest version of the AppleTV is out today.

That is on my need list.. time to hit the apple store and check one out. Really hoping to see an app from SlingBox not that this thing is a normal app store style device.

I really want one, but don't think that it makes sense at this point with my traveling. I'm bummed because it looks like an awesome upgrade.

I put a tv in my bedroom 2 months ago and have been waiting for the new appletv to come out to put on it. My main TV has a mac Mini hooked up to it.

If this could play Amazon VOD I'd get one right away. That's big for us.

Yea. There isn't one box that plays everything. I'm more invested in the apple eco-system at the moment.

I like the Apple gear the most but Amazon service the best and mostly use Netflex outside of the US.

One of the 2 people I do personal IT-ish work for ordered one the day they were released and it is supposed to arrive on the 10th. She has asked me to come by and get it all hooked up. As well as general PC updates and routine maintenance.

I am personally waiting to see if Sling will release an app for it so that I no longer have to airplay the SLingPlayer app from my iPhone/iPad.
Plex is now supported on the AppleTV which is a bonus.

Tempting...very tempting...as I am in a flux right now of what I want for a media center...playable apps is kind of cool...

The AppleTV and the Kindle FireTV seem to be where it is at. Lots of video options and lots of game options too. One uses a joystick (Kindle Fire TV) and I think that the AppleTV uses a touchpad on the remote?
