      This one was fun.

IT leader: “Wow, I think this developer is great.”
HR: “Really? What do they do?”
IT leader: “They built this excellent application.”
HR: “Well, are they better than the other developer who built ten applications?”
IT leader: “That depends on what you mean by 'better.'”

After all...that 1 application happened to be called Google.

I was reading up on this, Seagate expects the price per GB to be even cheaper compared to current SSD's as well.

      So it's a big jump for SSD's.

Now comes the question of how reliable are these when build in an Array.... oh the math...

What do you see yourself using it for?

Keeping track of my location. I do a lot of walking and like to map it but often the phone dies.

And so people can find you too.

      #Iknowwheresamis

      #trappedinaparkinggarage

Sadly would not help as the watch needs the phone for 4G to tell other people where I am trapped. And the phone died in that situation.

      Whats FOSSHub? 😆

That's what I'm wondering. Some unknown download site I guess.

Nah, heard that before. I think it came up a few years ago when some other FOSS project hosting site closed its doors. Not sure. Never reached much publicity, I guess.

What's sad is that every vendor making "home" (IE junk) routers has the same "problems". The hardware itself isn't limited in what it can do, just by the software used on the hardware platform. Of course this basic concept couldn't be grasped by a government agency.

@Breffni-Potter said in Windows 10 Anniversary Edition May Delete Partitions!:

Apple trash Windows and Linux installs on OSx frequently,

I have high-lighted the bit you quoted in bold. How is this a problem exclusive to Windows if OSX can and has broken installs as well?

Also I'm sure Linux installs can break the Windows partition as well, through carelessness or a bad bit of software installed, you can break that storage. We don't know how or why this happened exactly with Windows 10 but I'm willing to bet some kind of cleanup script was run at the end of the install which for reasons unknown, decided to terminate this partition. We don't know why but it's rubbish to say Windows is the only OS in history to have done this in the specific scenario of having more than 1 OS installed on the same storage.

      @scottalanmiller said

That the most common use case that Windows fails during is caused by dual booting intention doesn't change the fact that the issue is not exclusive to dual booting scenarios.

Where are they saying that on the article though?

Where did I say that Windows was the only OS in history to misbehave and kill storage? And I don't see how OSX being less than ready for prime time (something very evident to me from having tried to use it) excuses Windows from being stable?

I understand, Linux is great and everything else is crap. Linux definitely tends to take data integrity much more seriously than Windows. But why does this need to be about who is better or worse? This is about Windows having a data integrity issue right now that people need to look out for and be aware of and they should not be mislead to think that it is anything except a Windows data integrity issue - it is not reliably handling its own partition table.

Interesting to note that people compared it a bit to the TeamViewer breach, but it was quickly pointed out that, while a PR disaster, TeamViewer did not actually have a breach.

I wonder if that is what the final verdict was.

I'm not upgrading :X I had no prep time

You can still make it. Just grab a USB stick (I think 8GB is needed), use the Windows 10 download tool and it takes care of everything for you. Very easy.

No I mean I literally can't. They have stuff running that requires XP. It's insanity.

Can XP be virtualized on top of Windows 10?

Can I use smoke signals instead of the internet or a cell phone? Sure, but why?

Get Windows 10 for the every day tasks. Get ready for the future. Limit XP to XP-only tasks. What's the game plan with staying behind on XP? It's not indefinitely supportable. You are already heading down a path of disaster. Sure, it is a long path, but there is no more support, no security updates, things will only get more and more dangerous and precarious and when something goes wrong, it's going to go really, really wrong.

I've got 3 neurons firing boys. Please don't take anything I say seriously. Of course there is a reason to do that. I'd run it in virtualbox and call it a day. There is so much to fix here I don't even know where to begin.

Well Windows 10 would be a priority to fix today. Easy one to put at the top of the list. Are the XP machines originally purchased with Windows 7?
