I did play warhammer 40k briefly as a kid. I was lucky enough to have a friend who was well off that was heavily into it. He gave me a pretty damn impressive army to start off with. I played it for a few months and never played again. Time and finding people to play was difficult.

I am trying to learn how to tie my own flies now, but I dont even have time for that.

I have always liked Sony tv quality in the tube days. Have not kept up with tv quality since the LCD switch.

Let alone any of the new LED and OLED stuff.

Agreed, I'm really like Vizio today price wise, but the lack of HDR considering I bought my last TV 11 years ago I'd rather get something pretty close to bleeding edge.

I'd seriously research as much as you can about each specific television. There are brands that are safer than others (Samsung is generally safe, Sony as well) but this isn't always true. I got a 50 inch "lagless" Vizio smart TV for under $500. It might be the best purchase I've ever made. Absolutely perfect for what I needed. Took a ton of research to find it though.

Another thing to consider is size. I once researched the 40 inch Sharp Aquos and found a 60 inch in the store that I ended up purchasing. It's not the same TV at all. The 40 inch version was fantastic. The 60 inch was horrendous. The research really pays.

It also covers individually identifiable information

You should always safety check toilets.

lift the lid and have a look still concerned? Use the half flush to clear our anything you suspect might be hiding under the rim. also check the immediate vicinity and the toilet roll holder.

ICANN has rules about that stuff.. Granted who gave ICANN power in the first place?

    wasn't it the US Government?

Yes, ICANN and IANA (slightly older with a different history) were created to remove responsibility from the US Department of Defense and make them "independent," this was in 1997/8, and despite this "independence," the US military still has a lot of control, for example in 2003 they essentially took over Iraq's TLD upon invasion, for some reason.

I'm not sure what you're saying here. Just because the DOD gave it up, doesn't mean that the US Gov't still isn't the one who put ICANN in power, in fact it sounds exactly like that is what was done. Of course the DOD (from the sounds of it) has kept a thumb on the table so they can do what they want when they want - your example of Iraq.

I'm saying what I said, they were supposed to be independent, but they're not. It's clear the military still does pull some strings, but that's not how they present the situation and that's what I was saying, it's why I put independent in quotes.

Yeah...the lender we used for our first house (Wells Fargo Home Mortgage) asked us for the same documents 100 times. After about the 10th time I would reply with more angry versions of "you already have that." Unfortunately that response did not work. 😄

The lender we used for our second house (a lady our realtor had a good relationship with...I forget the name of the broker) was better. Only asked for a couple documents more than once. Though this round we put down full 20%. Before we were lowly FHA buyers during the housing crisis so things were stacked up against us...but we prevailed!

But this is life in general. He who shouts loudest gets the best treatment.

As someone on the autism spectrum, my natural response to people shouting louder is not to give them better service, but to immediately begin to punish them for bad behaviour. Reduce service levels or fire the client as an example to others. Someone who relies on being a bad customer to get what they want will likely always be a bad customer and will just get worse if you reward bad behaviour and others will learn to do so. Why a CEO would cave to a squeaky wheel makes no sense as it just trains customers to harass the CEO and make his life worse.

    ... ^^^ that's a Dobro...

This is exactly what I thought when I read the thread title.

I'm not a musician, can you explain how that is different then a "standard" guitar?

A resonator guitar, or "dobro", has a specially made plate where the soundhole would normally be. It's made of metal and springs, and provides a distinct metallicy, resonant sound. Dobro is a brand, and uses what is known as a "spider bridge".

Been Jamming out to Cake today!

I remember one of the very first episodes of Judge Judy years ago, or at least one of the first I saw, I'm not sure how long she's been on.. anyway, the plaintiff claimed that the defendant was listening to "Satanic metal music" with her daughter in the car, the band's name? "Cake." Never have found a recording of it, but god it was hilarious. She was going the distance to lie her ass off.

I grew up mowing the lawn on the farm and at my grandmother's place down the road. About eleven acres of lawn between the two. As an adult, I don't let there be any situation where I have to mow the lawn.

My dad, on the other hand, bought an $11K lawn mower and does it as his relaxation.

I always talk to scammers and telemarketers in general for long periods of time to annoy them, steadily I've received less calls. Sometimes though, I do make them laugh and they end up being pretty funny themselves.

@scottalanmiller Yikes. That sucks. Kind of like getting a new phone number that used to be used for faxing.

LOL, yeah, a bit like that.

My first phone number in New York was previously owned by an Arab guy with tons and tons of debt, there were debt collectors calling literally all day, 7 days a week, and sometimes late into the night. It was pretty amazing. It was a 212 number so I didn't want to change, they said I'd have to get a 646 (this was at the time that just started).

So, I just turned off my answering machine and turned off the ring for my phone (it had a switch, would've disconnected it otherwise), but sometimes when I picked up my phone to make a call, there'd be someone there accusing me of being this guy. It never ended.
