had I the money to do such philanthropy, I would certainly not talk about it on some social media site because all that does is invite the beggars.

Shit tons of people have horrid financial outlooks and most have lost hope. But there are so many people who just want a free buck that being so genuinely philanthropic is a lot of work.

@chad-k Some Like It Hot is definitely on Netflix Instant, though. I LOVE that movie. One of my all-time favorites. So freaking funny.

Really great cast. I wish that it wasn't so late, I feel like watching it now.

It was in the news. There was an earthquake that created a tsunami that wreaked havoc on a nuclear reactor...

I tried bluestacks before. I had a lot of problems to get my apps running ... And it needs a M$ OS to run.

If I have more time, I will see if I can get this working on VMware Workstation first.
I think the main problem is that ESX does not fully support the needed virtual hardware, yet. VMware Workstation has a lot more virtual network adaptors ...

Yeah, the first versions were wonky, but after an upgrade it was cool. And yes it needs MS or Apple to run. Good luck!

Yeah, wasn't part of SW back in those days. Wonder how it was. Weirder there was a smurf (Product Advisor) with regular meetings just a few miles from I've been living, yet knew nothing of it. Visibility is a funny thing.

Changes do reflect quite a bit on the personality of the top dog mod (CM, or whatever): MyShell and on down the line.

Yes, things have changed a lot. Most of those really early people are here too. Andy, Talon63, MyShell.... none too active but they are here and watching stuff. For one thing, it was REALLY quiet, lol. Only a few posts per day. Nothing like now. Not even anything like here.

I have not seen this since I got rid of my Laser Disc player and media. Now I just may have to go buy the Blu-Ray.

I still have all 350 of mine. Great stuff. The LD era remains my favorite. There was something visceral about the analogue transfers. Jurassic Park on CAV, Chungking Express, Tune in Tomorrow.... LD reigned over what was, to me, the golden age of cinema. The 1930s might have officially been the golden age, but I feel that the 1990s produced some of the most amazing films ever, but many that were forgotten.

I highly suggest WordPress, heck it's good enough for The Huffington Post and The New York Times. If you need assistance, contact me.

Yup, WordPress for sure. We've been running on that for about a decade. It's very easy to use and extremely flexible. Tons of themes already available or you can make your own, of course, but honestly that is a waste, just buy one or use a free one. It is backed by MySQL and can scale like crazy. And it is very easy to front it with a CDN like CloudFlare to make things even faster and safer.

And deployment guide available that makes it super simple: https://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress#Famous_5-Minute_Install

Run it on a LAMP stack for best results, IMHO. CentOS 6.5 is my recommendation. Everything you need is available via YUM (except WP itself, of course, although I hope that they include that in the future) and works together immediately.

Which Windows program would you recommend?

I don't use one currently. When on Linux it is a feature that I really like. I am so busy these days that working on multiple projects isn't an option currently 😞

I hear this all the time:

Customer: I didn't click on anything, I don't know how that got installed.
Me: Yes, but program A is on your PC.
Customer: Oh, yeah...I installed that! They say proudly, all smiles and such.
Me: Yeah and did you uncheck the boxes that said we are going to install these other programs?
Customer: I don't think there was anything like that.

    Yeahhhh....

My home office: Dual monitor setup with old HP rig (Q6660, 8GB, SSD) running W8.1. Crucial SSD died last Saturday after 6+ months of running. Running off a spare HP PC that was my data backup machine.

list item 2 Dell 2850's for testing, last running W2008R2.

list item Hp Touchsmart TX2x convertible touchscreen laptop AMD Fusion dual core 6GB and W8.1

list item Android TF101 with keyboard dock and Samsung Galaxy S3.

list item IMB convertible laptop x41? I used it to demo W8

Since last week I have been testing if one can be productive by living in the cloud only without any desktop apps. I will be reporting the shortcomings I have found.

Favorite desktop apps: Office 2013, Google Music Manger (my music is cloudy baby!), Notebook++, WinSCP. I have a love hate relationship with OneNote and Evernote.

Cloudy apps I love: RepairShopr, Wave, Office 365, ZenDesk, WHMCS, InfiniteWP.

Going to build or buy a new rig and want to get a touch screen monitor.

I left COD after the original. It was okay but not something I wanted to keep up with. I haven't done the multiplayer FPS thing in a decade. We used to play Quake 2, Quake 3 Arena and COD long ago.
