RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
job interview yesterday for 5 new sites.
interviews get harder as you get older. you get asked the same questions year after year and with benefit of age you can see the types of questions they should be asking they don't.
they still want to hear what your skills are, how do you thin that down after 30 years.
I was asked how do i handle conflict. i've just worked 10 years on my own, said I couldn't answer that.one of the most important things to look for in new staff is how well you think they'll get on with existing staff and fit into the culture of the workplace.
skills can be learnt in a week, getting people to work harmoniously together sometimes never happens.

back in the office for the first time this morning..
any guesses how long i'll be by myself today ?Either too long or not long enough.
Not long enough ,
I've already been told that I should have been here last week by someone in the corporate office.I have been in the office every work day since the quarantine started, but usually for only an hour or less. But I'm the only one on the 5th floor when I'm here, and there are probably less than 10 people total in the whole building.
Well as you might remember, my Son's mom's boyfriend came in contact with a person who tested positive.
He was around my son after being exposed, and his mom was exposed. then around my son as well.
So we did a mandatory 2 week quarantine as instructed by doctors.
and I'm getting lash backs from the corporate office - basically challenging my reason for staying home.@WrCombs said in What Are You Doing Right Now:

Then mention you're happy to speak with them face to face to about it.
Then see what they say.
Oh and don't forget to cough.

I have a Kyocera TASKAlfa copiers at work and an Ecosys M5521 and I'm very happy with all of them.
Kyocera, ohhh, never been a fan, I've always found them hard to get on with.

Our little puppy, Clive, was finally big enough to sleep in the bed last night. He's still tiny, but big enough to not get rolled over on now. He's a much happier dog today now that he had snuggles all night.
How dare you post about a puppy and not put up photos!

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
An American decided to write a book about famous churches around the world. So he bought a plane ticket and took a trip to Orlando, thinking that he would start by working his way across the USA from South to North. On his first day he was inside a church taking photographs when he noticed golden telephone mounted on the wall with a sign that read "$10,000 per call".
The American, being intrigued, asked a priest who was strolling by what the telephone was used for. The priest replied that it was a direct line to heaven and that for $10,000 you could talk to God.
The American thanked the priest and went along his way. Next stop was in Atlanta. There, at a very large cathedral, he saw the same golden telephone with the same sign under it. He wondered if this was the same kind of telephone he saw in Orlando and he asked a nearby nun what its purpose was. She told him that it was a direct line to heaven and that for $10,000 he could talk to God. "O.K., thank you," said the American.
He then traveled to Indianapolis, Washington DC, Philadelphia, Boston, and New York. In every church he saw the same golden telephone with the same "$10,000 per call" sign under it. The American, upon leaving Vermont decided to travel to AUSTRALIA to see if Australians had the same phone.
He arrived in Australia, and again, in the first church he entered, there was the same golden telephone, but this time the sign under it read "40 cents per call." The American was surprised so he asked the priest about the sign. "Father, I've traveled all over America and I've seen this same golden telephone in many churches. I'm told that it is a direct line to Heaven, but in the US the price was $10,000 per call. Why is it so cheap here?"
The priest smiled and answered, "You're in Australia now, son - it's a local call".

Also @siringo, why can't they remove the A/V themselves when their contract starts?
IMO, It's your ass on the line before their start date and they are just trying to make things easier for themselves at the expense of your soon-to-be former client. That's exactly how I see it. I'm not going to help them at all.
They seem to be a bunch of cowboys. To be honest I can't see the boss being happy with them at all, they're too informal & just don't understand.
The client was a specialist medical practise. These people tell their clients they're going to die. I can't see how people like that will be able to tolerate IT people that are proud to call themselves 'nerds' & 'geeks' and have pictures on their web site of themselves, posing with stuffed toys & giggling.
They're more like gamers than IT professionals.

Will I lose Connection if I ...
I have a 2016 VPS I use as a lab machine.
I RDP into the box and work on it. If I set up a VPN on this machine to another machine, will that disconnect my RDP session and stop me from reconnecting??
Thanks for any help.

Remote Desktop to Fedora 28?
So I've setup my old laptop with Fedora v28 workstation.
What can I use to, (for want of the correct Linux terminology), RDP into my Fedora laptop when I'm out in the field?
Not being command line savvy, it will need to be a GUI interface.
Thanks.

After living in an apartment for so long and now living in a house for just over a year. I really dislike lawn and hedge bushes.
I cut them all down.
Haha. Scorched earth policy.
