        Edit2: excerpt from article:

And so we come to the multi-million dollar question: is the Skarp real? This is usually the part where informed speculation kicks in, but for once I’m at a loss.

Still, using an unshielded optical fiber to cut hair doesn’t pass the sniff test. Using a AAA battery to drive a diode laser for a month doesn’t pass the sniff test. The sheer engineering that goes into designing optics, possibly manufacturing new laser diodes, and packaging all of this into an unbelievably small enclosure doesn’t pass the sniff test.

Yeah I have a feeling like the batteries on this thing will die mid shave, and it takes 45 minutes to charge up.

End up looking like this guy because you decided to throw out all of the classic razors.

I love my safety razor. Smooth shave, and blades are about $0.10 a piece.

Yep, I got a butterfly razor for Christmas last year, best shave I've ever had and my face doesn't get all razor-burny afterward.

Same I use a Safety Razor as well, I got fed up paying $18 for 3 razors from Gillette, I can buy a pack of 25 razors for $2.50.

And it performs so much better.

I kind of want to get a straight razor, but I don't want to pay the money for a good one.

I found an old one, with a decorative ivory handle, in a "hidden" compartment in my end table. It is extremely sharp still and very little to no rust. It even had a leather case that looks like it was very well taken care of.

I don't think I'd ever shave with it... It looks gruesome like something out of a hitchcock film.

Still several more days to go,.. and they are over 14,307 backers with $2,734,960.

And it's been going up as I type this.

Should I start a kick starter to make the greatest meat-lovers sandwich of all time?

I only need $20 bucks, but I'll let it run for 6 months.

Anyone game to give me $2 million?

Until I decided to blend into my west coast surroundings with a beard I also enjoyed a safety razor & collected old ones. Only way to shave.

On another forum I have been a member of there is a thread on how to get out of debt with a safety razor. For months I would see this and question it, but never read it.

Finally I did one day and realized that they meant shaving. I have been using a 1960-70 era Gillette Safety Razor for a while now.. and like it over the newer 20 blade razors. (okay, there isn't a 20 blade... but you get the point).

Someone made a comment that "with my safety, I have to 'shave twice or three' times. ... and someone replied, that's why I use the new 5 blade..

Only thing is, that 5 blade 'shaves' you 5 times...so what is the difference. And with my beard, I only trim up a bit on the lower neck.... so a single blade can last me two months since I only hit it about once in two weeks.....

I work from home,... so not like I need to impress anyone.
