@MattSpeller Thanks for saying on topic and not making masturbation jokes.

How does the mouse you linked help? Less moving of your hand?

No moving your hand at all. I use it at work and it eliminated all my wrist / forearm / shoulder pains!

I use it maybe 20% of the time at home, they're terrible for gaming unless it's a strategy / overhead view kinda deal.

I used one for a bit and dislike it. Great idea but I am not coordinated enough. I moved to a Logitech http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Zone-Touch-Mouse-Windows/dp/B0093H4VBU and am really happy with it (no scroll wheel made a big difference to me).

Also using a laptop and the touch pad really helps a bit to change the muscles being used. Nice to take a break once in awhile.

I loved them in school (CAD), and went to the trackball exclusively when I developed tendonitis in my elbows. If I use a mouse more than a few minutes, my fingers and thumb begin to go numb. No trouble at all with a trackball. I don't like the one with the ball in the thumb position. The big one in the center does much better for me.

I broke that thumb so using the thumb type is a killer for me.

Very similar experience to mine (also CAD) - I couldn't get the hang of the finger tip ones but as soon as I picked up the thumb type it was a natural fit.

This man speaks the truth. I have 2 of these, 1 work and 1 home. No pains, great mouse.

My boss hates using it, which I find hilarious.

I use so many keyboard short cuts, the amount of time I spend using a mouse, is very very little. I also am big on getting up and stretching every 15-30min. Drinking lots of water and eating potassium (Bananas etc) also helps with cramps.

...and there's another plus for going with a trackball! Nobody wants to use your machine. 🙂

Me too, although a mouse on that desk would be untenable.

I found that a lot of people in big offices use filth, dirty tissues, old food and sticky goop as a deterent in the same way.

I need to get more sleep. I had to re-read that. Thought it said "sticky poop" the first couple times I looked at it.

@scottalanmiller It's unbelievable the depraved filth people tolerate on their keyboards and mice.

When I get in a laptop, first it's sprayed down with a can of this magnificent stuff

To the users: "It's like taking your car in for an oil change and getting a free car wash!"

To the technicians: "This is how you avoid getting sick all the time."

I recommend that techs carry Clorox wipes or similar. You need to disinfect that stuff.

@scottalanmiller that'll work, the stuff I linked is the same - 30% ethanol. I like the foaming ones as it'll get into the dirt a bit better, then wipe down with a microfiber towel (one towel / day depending on volume, then wash, because omfg nasty)

I like the wipes because you can fold them and get between keys.
