Likely a fake. It's been around for a long time. No teacher would write the last bit.

        http://www.snopes.com/humor/letters/hilliker.asp

Although this was a lot like what school was like for me. I had a teacher insist that the moon did not rotate for example. And another teacher who accepted that the "day change" happened at 1am rather than at midnight because a prominent family in the school thought that and their kids would say it. So rather than be an adult, the teacher, probably actually unsure of when the time did actually change, just demanded that everyone agree that it changed at 1am.

It was lessons like this that made me realize that being in a position of authority did not warrant respect. Anyone demanding respect that they couldn't earn was an imbecile.

Even if it is fake, that kind of situation has happened countless times before...

I didn't know that, I didn't take a science class that specifically covered this. Interesting - I also thought the 'dark side of the moon' wasn't real (and yeah I know it really isn't) but also didn't realize that the far side of the moon is never exposed to the earth. Thanks

This was covered all through elementary science for me. It was seventh grade when the teacher decided that all science knowledge was wrong and that she knew better. She actually said to ignore all books because she knew from watching it that the moon didn't rotate.

I did a big demonstration in class to show her that her observations actually proved that it did rotate and that she didn't understand what rotation was.

It is made of cheese though, right? I mean surely my teacher wasn't wrong on that point.

No, that is fact. Wallace and Gromit proved that.

Never imagined that you would be a Wallace & Gromit fan. That's from before your time.

You kidding me? I love them! Watched them as much as I could growing up!

They are both spin offs really. Shaun appears in one of the W&G episodes then got his own show. Then Timmy Time spun off from that. Each one is meant for a younger and younger audience.

I was a fan of their work before they made Wallace & Gromit. They used to make shorts about animals being interviewed at the zoo.
