ps2 to usb adapters

You don’t just cut off a PS2 connector and put on a USB..

I get some of the older PS2 keyboards are ‘better’ but ps2 is -dead- you need to upgrade or,.. try a different ps2 to USB

It's been DECADES, but this is how they used to all be and it was 100% reliable. Early USB days every computer was PS/2 and they just shipped these tiny USB adapters to make them work. I've probably used thousands of them. I can picture it in my mind so clearly. I know I have bins of the things in storage somewhere.

USB is a wholly different technology than PS/2. One is digital, one is analogue.

Just buy a new keyboard, dude. You can get mechanical keyboards with all different types of feedback. I like the super old and loud keyboards with tons of noise.
There's alot of choices for mechanical keyboards that behave like your old ones. Let the PS2 keyboard go... Take it to scrap yard, and set it free

I have one and can't get the keyboard recognized, I still have a few "favourite" ps2 keyboards. Does it make any sense, to cut off the ps2 end, and replace with usb ?

Hanging on to that Fujitsu QWERTY special for that just-in-case moment you need to QWERTY some perp breaking into your office? ;0)
The best keyboard for the buck right now is the Microsoft Surface Ergonomic Keyboard with great key texture and it's Bluetooth so no dongles needed. If a standard style is needed then the Surface Keyboard is great.
I have wrench slinger wrists so an ergonomic is needed for me.

Then you can convert it to USB C
Do not pay $30 for an adapter. Get a modern USB mechanical keyboard for a few bucks more lol

see how well they work. -
@IRJ sadly, have my "attachments" and a couple of my old keyboards fall into that category, they have worked for "oh so many years" and just keep on working, thus
my attachments.

Your probably thinking about vga versus dvi/hdmi.

see how well they work.You should try it thoroughly. Some scancodes (=id of the key) hust doesn't work with some adapters - for no good reason I might add..

If I really think about is, most keyboards prior to PS/2 were using more traditional serial adapters. Which were digital. Duh.

Actually the first IBM PCs used the same type of electrical interface but a different connector, a 5 pin DIN.
The mouse was a real 9-pin serial DSUB at first though. If my memory is correct LOL

Sounds right. I had a lot of those DSUB mice in the old days. Originally the ones that I used shared that DSUB with the joysticks.
