Did you miss the part where he didn't want an RSS feed because it might be to hard to update the XML file?

Yes, the end user says that is too complicated.

Don't let the end user put these changes in then?

      . . .

She's the boss. I work for her, not the other way around.

OK, time to find something else then.. or - heck, hire JB's team of programmers to write something.

Time for her to delegate the task of updating an XML file to you. . . . 🙂

I'm being dead serious here, have you asked her if post-it notes would work? If she needs a reminder to tell the customer to have a good day or that toilet paper is 10% off, it seriously could be the correct solution. I have coworkers that have up to 10 post-its on the monitor, phone, etc. at any given time. We also use label makers to more permanently attach certain things like "Transfer * Ext = VM" right on the phone...

Maybe it is a ticker for her password, lol.

@bnrstnr, clearly we are looking for a technical solution to a procedural issue.

People are likely making their desks look like a child's play area, and the manager wants to stop it.

Just change her password to "Incorrect" so when she can't login the computer says "Your password is Incorrect."

@dustinb3403 But it's his boss, and it's only for her... If she can't edit a txt/xml file, she likely wont be able to do anything else technical.

Also, Outlook recurring reminders are great, they have a little task bar deal that can be displayed too...

Which is why she needs to delegate the tasks, rather than attempting to manage it herself. As clearly she can't do this. She manages people, not technology.

What qualifies as "simple enough" ?

Changing a few words in a notepad document is as simple as it gets. . . .

                                          OP is that right?

The use doesn't matter as much as the glaring issue that a technical solution being used, by someone who manages people, but doesn't want to do anything with the tech will not work.

It must be delegated, as she clearly isn't going to keep up with it, since she is apparently incapable of editing an XML file. ..

@bnrstnr, clearly we are looking for a technical solution to a procedural issue.

People are likely making their desks look like a child's play area, and the manager wants to stop it.

I get the impression this is for a machine like a Kiosk.

Kindof... It's a status screen for another piece of software just to display the current status of what's going on in the hospital.

Something that would stay on top like below... Really this software that I found fits exactly what we want, but apparently isn't good enough because it doesn't use RSS.0_1516652856835_Capture.JPG
