The only app I really needed was to be able to create my ssh keys, that was honestly a little frustrating not being able to create ssh keys on my Chromebook. I used a raspberry pi for that. Of course, now that I think about it, the VPN my work uses has a Debian client so technically now I could go full Chromebook again, not having a Windows box would be cool.
