@bigbear I've used the platform for PBX use cases (partially because it was more robust than Asterisk back in the day when I was a VOIP guy). I know a DEV who's done some of the work on the windows builds (Old boss) is why I ask. I know a lot of call center people who've abandoned Asterisk for it.

@john-nicholson you used Fusion PBX or Asterisk?

There was also Cudatel, which is gone now. 😕

The open source sipwise distro is actually a Class 5 switch, so not exactly a PBX but more of a carrier solutions.

Its too bad because they have some features that FreePBX doesn't have, and the CPBX is more of a long term service install.

Maybe its time we do a little networking and get somebody like sipwise or Brekeke to release a community FOSS edition, or try to get developers of some of the larger multi-server freeswitch products to release something. I can think of a dozen different people to approach.

@scottalanmiller incredible! I was heavily into this project in the late nineties. I still have several Spark boxes somewhere that I refuse to get rid of. Haiku has been such a disappointment...

Wasn't BeOS 5 the version you can launch from a Windows folder? I had a BeBox as well but a friend never returned it.

BeOs is really cool. It's sad that it didn't make it. It was still pretty influential.

@scottalanmiller Just started this thread https://mangolassi.it/topic/14480/let-s-convince-someone-to-release-a-foss-pbx and looking for some support/feed back. I think we can convince someone to do this with a current production product. I have several ideas.

I think that the purpose of the Issabel is to continue creating the Add On Modules that was supported by Elastix , also it is based on CentOS 7 which will be more reliable than what Elastix 2.5 was.
anyway i think we need to wait till we find Issabel is stable distro and we can depend on it as we did with Elastix.

I assume that they are working form the nearly released Elastix 4 work. That was on CentOS 7 at the end.

And it did work with a lot of patience and knowledge of the underlying systems. But it was a hard fail for the layman.

True. I had it working, but it wasn't ready for prime time when they gave up on it all.
