XP Mode on Windows 10

I support a metal fabrication shop. They have machines that run on XP, Windows 2000 that do all sorts of metal work. Punching, bending, welding, etc. They were taking designs from a Workstation in the office then walking them to the metal working machine and using a USB drive to transfer all the different types of designs they would make. It was so old it couldn't work with Window shares on the new computers in the office. I was able to get it to work with a Samba share from a CentOS linux server though. They were very please with that.
To sort of quote a famous 1980s trade publication: "Linux integrates Windows better than Windows integrates Windows."

I'm now pretty sure that a Windows 10 Enterprise E3 subscription (aka SA) will allow me to install either Windows 7 or Windows XP as a virtual machine on my Windows 10 desktop without the need to purchase a separate licence for 7 or XP.

What I saw from ZDNet is that only down to Windows 7, and that's timebombed. I've never seen (but that isn't very conclusive) anything that lets you install Vista or older since Windows 10 released.

The above is assuming an OEM copy of 10 already existed, the VL provides the upgrade... and then the SA provides the downgrade.

Not a definitive source, but this shows when XP was dropped...

I'm totally wrong. Windows 10 with software assurance definitely gives you XP.

So if you get Windows 10, get an XP media, get SA rights... you are free to install XP!

Er, I know, that's what I just said.
